چکیده
The kappa-opioid system (KOP) is the key in drug abuse. Of all compounds isolated from Salvia divinorum (S. divinorum), salvinorin-A (Sal-A) predominant. Further, Sal-A only compound within S. which reported to have psychoactive properties as a powerful receptor (KOPr) agonist. Based on role of KOP consumption drugs, extract (SDE) and may modify alcohol intake Wistar rats. Assessing voluntary consummatory behavior, food natural reward behavior tonic immobility indicative anxiety-like present study sought identify both SDE rat model. Forty-eight adult male rats were randomly divided into six groups: control, naive vehicle, alcohol-naive SDE, Sal-A, alcohol-consumption Sal-A. Alcohol assessed for two weeks. In middle these weeks, (containing ~1 mg/kg Sal-A) or was injected intraperitoneally once day week. Tonic testing performed once. administration produced significant increase especially with history forced juvenile age, elicited an animals without previous exposure, prolonged duration decreased intake. conclusion, stimulated independent exposure respectively, also anorexigenic effect, increased anxious-like behavior.

متن کاملVentral Tegmental Area Microinjected-SKF38393 Increases Regular Chow Intake in 18 Hours Food Deprived Rats
Ventral tegmental area (VTA) dopamine neurons play an important role in reward mechanisms of food intake, and VTA dopamine receptors exist on the terminal of glutamatergic and GABAergic neurons and regulate GABA and glutamate release. To our knowledge, there is no evidence to show that VTA D1 dopamine receptors play a role in regular chow intake. In this paper, the effect of SKF38393, a D1 rece...
متن کاملNicotine Increases Alcohol Intake in Adolescent Male Rats
Background: Use of alcohol and tobacco, the two most concurrently abused drugs, typically first occurs during adolescence. Yet, there have been no systematic analyses of ethanol (EtOH) and nicotine (Nic) interactions during adolescence. Recent animal studies report that kappa-opioid (KOR) receptor activation mediates age differences in drug reinforcement. Our hypothesis is that concurrent self-...
متن کاملtemperature-driven increases in food intake
Although ambient temperature has diverse effects on disease dynamics, few studies have examined how temperature alters pathogen transmission by changing host physiology or behaviour. Here, we test whether reducing ambient temperature alters host foraging, pathology and the potential for fomite transmission of the bacterial pathogen Mycoplasma gallisepticum (MG), which causes seasonal outbreaks ...
متن کاملRoom Service Improves Nutritional Intake and Increases Patient Satisfaction While Decreasing Food Waste and Cost.
BACKGROUND Room service is a foodservice model that has been increasingly implemented across health care facilities in an effort to improve patient satisfaction and reduce food waste. In 2013, Mater Private Hospital Brisbane, Australia, was the first hospital in Australia to implement room service, with the aim of improving patient nutrition care and reducing costs. OBJECTIVE The aim of this ...
